Alpha 0.3.0


So, it's been a month since the last update, there have been many difficulties and problems, and even more awaits ahead, and right now we bring you the new 0.3.0 update)

What's new:

  • Goblin archer - now occasionally you will encounter a goblin armed with a short bow (which you can't get yet). He will shoot at his enemies in range. He also has a limited supply of arrows (but plenty of them).
  • Dynamic weather system - sometimes in the game the weather changes (so far only for rain), which can have different intensity. During rain - burning characters will drop 1 stack of burning every round. The weather is not yet persistent, and also with heavy rain there may be performance sags on weak devices.
  • New music and sounds: Added some "peaceful", "dark" and "battle" music by alkakrab, as well as sounds of a blow in close combat, sounds of a shot from a bow, fireball and the sound of exploding fireball, adaptive audio for rain. Different sounds are played for different events. The sound system will be improved in the future.
  • And yes - there is essentially no more new content :D

Changes:

  • [WIP] The game space (location) granting system has been drastically redesigned. The system loads 9 chunks at once asynchronously, instead of 1. Now you will not meet spavn structures and mobs in front of your eyes when transitioning between chunks, as well as the transition process itself is faster and more "smoothly", without the appearance of phantom landscape and black screen. Also was solved the problem with diagonal walking on the chunks. While there are bugs.
  • [WIP] Slightly improved pathfinding nps, as well as was added support for the size of the creature (for example, a troll occupies 3x3 cells and can only walk on a similar space). In the future it is planned to add bypassing other creatures based on their size, as well as different cell costs to bypass unwanted areas.
  • Fixed the AI of the goblin shaman, now he acts more appropriately and does not profess gachimuchi. Rarely he may have dullnesses that are related to traveling to the target in a group.
  • Adjusted landscape generation so that water bodies are surrounded only by sand/gravel beaches. Also reduced noise frequency, for a smoother landscape.
  • Lots of minor changes

Work In Progress:

  • Procedural generation of transition tiles between biomes. This method will get rid of the routine of drawing each blend-tile for each position with each biome, doing it according to certain algorithms, the result of which will be a collage in the form of a blend-tile.
  • Navigation refinements (see above)
  • New system of providing structures, designed to speed up the process of generation and search for new structures, have more detailed customization of generation, as well as support for huge structures and multi-structures.
  • Adaptation of the game for horizontal screen, as well as PC
  • Actions for warriors
  • Trade mechanics

At the moment the performance of the game may not be stable and this is normal for alpha. In the future, of course, performance will be improved, as well as added settings that will improve performance on weak android devices
