Alpha 0.3.1


We present to your attention a new update 0.3.1, which is designed to deepen the tactical component of the game.

What's new?

  • Cover miscalculation system. Now when attacking any partially walled creature, its cover in relation to you will be calculated. There are 4 types of cover:
    • No cover: no bonuses or penalties. 
    • Half cover: target have +2 AC from your attacks
    • Three quarted cover: target have +5 AC from your attacks
    • Full cover: target get no damage from your attacks
  • Stealth System. Both you and npcs have the basic action "Hide", which allows you to hide your presence from unwanted detection. When you hide - enemies will not detect your presence immediately. In general, the speed of detection depends on the skills of the hiding (dexterity) and the attention of the seeker (wisdom), as well as the time of day, the current hiding place and the current weather. Also, attacking creatures that have not spotted you has an advantage, but immediately after the attack, you will lose your stealth. Keep in mind - if you try to hide in line of sight - it will not give any advantage. Enemies may also try to hide from you.
  • Active Stealth Search. As a counterbalance to stealth, a basic "Search" action has been added. Using this action increases the chances of finding a hidden creature, but attention is also affected by the time of day, cover and current weather (as well as the wisdom characteristic).
  • AI of non-player characters. The vision of npcs has been greatly improved - now they more clearly notice all creatures in the radius of their vision, as well as remember the last position of other creatures that have gone beyond their field of vision (for example, around the corner). Plus, if they are not seen by enemy creatures, they hide and try to explore the last memorized location. Npcs also have an "annoyance" system that depends on what they see. It will also help players to understand if the npcs can see them now.
  • New Actions:
    • Hide. Basic action, available by default, which allows you to hide from the gaze of other creatures.
    • Search. A basic action available by default that allows you to better find hidden creatures.
    • Skip Turn. A basic action available by default that allows you to skip 1 of your turns.
    • Evasion. A basic action available by default that allows you to dodge enemy attacks better (those attacks get interfered with). But dodging requires a stamina drain.
    • Entangling Shot. Archers have a new action that introduces a deeper tactical element. When attacking with this shot, there is a chance that the target will be entangled (depends on the strength of the target). An entangled target cannot move on its own, all of its attacks are hindered, and attacks against it have advantage. The target will be entangled for up to 10 rounds, but may be released sooner. A book has also appeared.
    • Sniper's Eye (yes, meme name). Improves the range of all ranged weapons by 2 squares. A book has also appeared.
  • Alternate weapon attack. Some weapons (short swords and daggers) have an alternative attack that allows you to use a weapon of a different characteristic. The choice is automatic and depends on the highest bonus to the attack. For example, a short sword can now be used with both Strength and Dexterity.
  • Illumination of the area occupied by a creature. Creatures (except for the player) now have a circular illumination of their area. This area has different colors that indicate the mood of the creature to the player, and also shows the space that the creature occupies. This should improve the visual definition of creatures on the screen, as well as add tactical information. And also this circle shows where to click).
  • PC build. While in the test version, now available PC build. In it, the game is adapted to the horizontal mode of play, as well as partial control of the keyboard and mouse. The game interface is transferred from the android version and poorly adapted to the horizontal mode. In the future will be rolled out its interface for horizontal mode, after which, this mode will appear on the android version.
    • LMB - similar to tap on the screen in the android version
    • RMB -  cancel the last selected target (in the selected action mode)
    • Spacebar - invoke an action (useful when using actions that support an unlimited number of targets, or that can be used on yourself)
    • TAB - open the character menu
    • WASD - move the character in a certain direction
  • New shader for visualizing the border of the visible area. The shader has been rewritten to make the visual border more accurate and less jittery when moving the camera. Possible negative impact on performance.

Changes

  • Selected actions were not loading correctly after restarting the game. Now everything should work correctly.
  • The icon for the Multishot ability has been replaced with a different one to better visually distinguish it from the Retreating Shot.
  • The interface has been tweaked a bit, specifically:
    • The color of the action icons and concentration labels in the action and concentration boxes has been replaced with a similar color in the character menu window → actions.
    • The concentration box has been finalized and also slightly modified.
    • The favorite items box now displays 6 items instead of 4.
    • Some elements have been moved up a bit to avoid overlapping with other elements.
  • Characterization books are now much rarer, matching their rarity.
  • The balance between finding heavy and light armor, as well as their enchanted versions, has been improved.
  • The volume of background music has been slightly reduced.
  • Visualization of the radius of action usage is now updated when changing equipment (bow to sword and back).
